Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY, (July 23, 2013)- An event that was supposed to take place in March that was never started, coupled with an event in June that was never finished has set the stage for a massive program to finish off July.
The Mid-Season Rock Launcher event is slated for this Sunday Afternoon at Black Rock Speedway, which has melded its way into an 11-feature program, which will include four 50-lap races.
Four of the features to be contested on Sunday are events held-over from a rain-shortened show on June 23. The 50-lap street stock event had 14 laps complete when Mother Nature intervened. Brett Marlatt will restart the event as the leader, but it was defending track champion and sportsman rookie Chris Fisher who was the story, leading the first 13 laps until a cut tire was set to force him to the pits until the rain gave him a huge reprieve. The race is part of the Greg’s Auto Body Street Stock Bonus Series, the second race in that series will also be held on Sunday, with that 50-lap feature open to competitors that were not in attendance in June.
The crate sportsman drivers will be having the biggest workload of the afternoon. The drivers that were on hand last month will run their held over 50 lap feature, plus another complete program for an open draw $1500-to-win 50-lap feature. The FWD and RWD 4-cylinders will also be running double features Sunday.
The IMCA Modifieds and the bandits were the only features to be complted back in June, and both divisions will be in competition again this weekend. Once again, the IMCA race will be a World Products Empire State Series event. Two-time BRS Track Champion Mike Smith claimed the event last month.
Certainly not to be overlooked on the card are the CRSA 305 Sprints. This will be the first race for this division at the track since April of 2012. John Matrafailo currently leads the standings with second-generation driver Jordan Thomas second in points.
Racing action will kick off at 2:00 P.M. with the rained-out features. Gates will swing open at Noon. For a coupon for $5 off a General Admission Ticket, plus more information, visit www.BlackRockSpeedway.com.
