Official Notice: Steve Paine Suspended From Modified Racing at Black Rock for Four Weeks
By RICH VLECK
DUNDEE, NY - Following a dominating performance in the modified opener at Black Rock Speedway on April 12, the winner, Steve Paine, has been suspended from modified competition at Black Rock for four races.
Paine, from Waterloo, NY, acted inappropriately during post-race technical inspection, which has been determined to be detrimental to auto racing, causing the suspension.
“Steve is a fantastic competitor,” said Black Rock Owner Dean Hoag. “But his actions following the April 12 race were unacceptable and required the suspension.”
“It’s like in other sports when a player or coach keeps badgering an official,” added Hoag. “Eventually it gets to a point where they get thrown out.”
It should be noted that despite failing the initial technical inspection, Paine was not determined to be illegal for this race, and thus was paid his $3,000 top prize in full.
The suspension period has already begun for the 2007 Track Champion. He will be eligible to return from his four race modified hiatus on May 30.
Black Rock Speedway will continue this Friday with another superstar setup, with racing action kicking off at 6:45 p.m.
