Regional Truck & Trailer Returns to Black Rock in a Big Way
By RICH VLECK
DUNDEE, NY - The birthplace of the pro truck and the sponsor that helped to foster has teamed up to keep those vehicles and competitors racing for years into the future.
Regional Truck & Trailer, based out of Rochester, NY, has committed to helping the pro trucks compete equally with the street stocks, allowing them to participate in the big money races at Black Rock, as well as on a weekly basis.
At the Street Stock World 100, Regional will pay a $200 bonus to each team which fields a pro truck that meets the chassis, tire and motor specifications given under the BRS Street Stock Rules. In order for the bonus to the offered, a minimum of five trucks must attempt to compete.
Chris Leroux has already made the simply adjustments to his No. 32, as he was in competition back on July 11. Other teams have already started their conversion and with nearly three months left before the big event, there is plenty of time for those that have yet to start.
Considering that the 100-lapper on October 25 is a $2,000-to-win, $200-to-start event, trucks that qualify for the feature will pick up $400 just for taking the green flag.
Teams that are ready to compete earlier than the World 100 will be able to run in any of the remaining Labatt Blue Street Stock races. Considering that the $500-to-win bonus for a 24-car field is still being offered, the few extra trucks might just get the field to that level.
Regional’s support will filter into 2009 when these trucks will be able to compete for the Regional Stocks Championship. Regional will also present the same $200 bonus program for the trucks in the $5,000-to-win 50-lap Spring Fling event on April 4, 2009.
“This is a great way to give the guys with these trucks a chance to race,” said BRS Owner Dean Hoag. “Jim Carello of Regional is committed to the truck class he helped create and believes this is the best way to keep it going.”
The trucks have fit well for Regional for years, being the best way to market the one-stop source for trucks and truck parts. Regional Truck & Trailer is now located in Buffalo, Geneva, Batavia, Jamestown, Portville and Dansville, in addition to their Rochester location.
